Day 23: The Church, Part 2

Photo of the Day: Coffee Done Right

Today I attended Sunday service at Boon Church, the same church I visited for Friday's fellowship. Unfortunately I arrived about half an hour late and missed worship because I was unaware of a change in the bus schedule that just so happened to go into effect today. The sermon was also unremarkable because they were introducing a new series on the Sermon on the Mount, so it was more or less an orientation to what the next few months would look like with no real content. Despite these obstacles, I still really like this church and it remains a top contender because of the vibe it has that feels so familiar to me. After church, a guy invited me over to his house in Bayside to watch the New York Giants play their season opener. They bought kimbap and Korean fried chicken as finger food, which was so delicious. Once again, it felt good just eating and hanging out at someone's house, even if I didn't really know anyone there.

The rest of today has been gloriously chill. I cooked for the first time since arriving in New York, kicking off my culinary exploits with tuna quesadillas. I didn't really have a recipe, so I just stuffed everything I could into them: tomatoes, avocado, green onion, roasted red peppers, and mozzarella cheese. I may have overdone it just a tad, and the avocado was very unripe, but I'm generally pleased with the overall effect. Let's hope maybe now I can start saving money from eating out all the time. I also proceeded to make a latte with the AeroPress that my sister gave me as a gift before I left Texas. I don't know if it's the excellent Stumptown Roaster beans or the fancy coffee maker, but the results are always absolutely delicious. I spent the rest of the night curled up in bed with my cup o' Joe and a cheesy movie, and I think I'm turning in early for the night. Sounds like a great way to start the week to me!

Today was dreary and rainy: perfect weather to sit inside with a cup of scrumptious hot coffee and a movie.

  4. Not spectacular, but not bad either. I tried to limit my use of tuna so it didn't overpower the other flavors. It's great to use though because tuna is so cheap and has lots of protein! I've made tuna quesadillas before, and these definitely turned out better than any other batch I'd made, so I was pretty pleased!
